Who’s Who . . .

 

 

Brian Visscher (Cat in the Hat) is in his third consecutive year of being involved with Calvary shows.  Past roles include Dr. Zubritsky in Fools and Schroeder in last year’s You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  Brian is a Junior this year and has attended Calvary since the 2nd grade.  In the tradition of Seuss rhyme, Brian has written this poem for you:  “Beethoven rules, Schroeder is cool, Russians are ‘Fools’, and I go to Calvary Schools.  I’ve been there for years, nine to be exact, always ready for one or two acts.  I hope you enjoy this experience and have lots of laughs!”

 

Chad Adkins (Horton the Elephant) is débuting his acting career as the lovable elephant from the world of Dr. Seuss.  Chad is home schooled and has played piano for Calvary choirs the past two years.  He is a part-time senior student this year at Calvary.  He started singing in church when he was 12.

 

Kaleb Beelen (JoJo) is excited about being in his first play this year!  “Hi, Mom!  I need a band-aid!”  Kaleb started his acting career as an octopus in Kidnapped on I-land for the elementary spring concert a few years ago.  Last year, he played opposite Chase Freestone as Tom and Huck for MACS competition.  This year, he is a BIG star, landing a lead role in Seussical.  Kaleb has been at Calvary for 5 years.

 

 Anna Edwards (Gertrude McFuzz) is no stranger to theater and acting although this is her first show at Calvary.  She was previously involved in acting at Zeeland High School with the Zeeland High Players for the production of It’s A Wonderful Life all the way back to Kindergarten in a play called Hats for Sale!  Her life aspiration is to be a curly-fry straightener!  “Thanks to my gianormous family for their awesome support and encouragement!”

 

Krysta Altvater (Mayzie LaBird) made audiences laugh in her amazing role as Lucy in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  She has been at Calvary for 6 years and had no previous theater experience before Calvary.  “I would like to thank my parents and friends for supporting and encouraging me.  It’s been amazing getting closer to the cast!  We’ve had fun teaching Leah to ‘hmph’ and I am so excited to have ANOTHER piano scene with Brian!”

 

Leah Bartlett (Sour Kangaroo) has been involved in two other Calvary shows.  Three years ago she played in The Elevator and last year she was “Jeff” Woodstock in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  She has been at Calvary for 12 years and has had “super-duper” fun with the cast this year.  “Thanks to all and to all a good night!”

 

Paul Hontz (Mayor) has been at Calvary for 2 years and is on stage for the first time ever.  Being the mayor of Whoville marks his second political office held this year as he was also elected Vice-President for the High School choir.  He promises to cut taxes in “Whoville”!

 

Abigail Hagger (Mayor’s Wife) is a senior this year and has attended Calvary for 6 years.  She was involved in one other school play a few years ago call “The Lost Elevator”.  This is the first musical that she has been involved in, but has performed several solos in choir during her time at Calvary.  Abby plans to go into missions at Moody Bible Institute.  “I would like to thank those in my life that have pushed me closer to God.  Each affected me and are a part of who I am today!”

 

Tyler Joldersma (General Gengis Kahn Smitz) started his acting career two years ago in Calvary’s production of Fools.  This year he takes the stage again with his commanding presence and energetic personality.  He has been at Calvary for 3 years.  “I want to thank Jordan Steele for inspiring me to do this part.”

 

Julie Schultz (Bird Girl #1) has been at Calvary for 2 years.  Last year, she served as stage manager for Calvary’s, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  She also played “Dorthy” in Calvary’s Spring Concert Imagination.  Julie has also been involved in plays and musicals at her church.  She has had a “super-duper time with the cast, Patty, and the St. Clairs.  Thank you to my parents for your encouragement, inspiration, and support!”

 

Sarah Bartlett (Bird Girl #2) is a senior this year and has been at Calvary for 12 years!  Previous theater experience includes playing a little girl in The Elevator (3 years ago) and helping with make-up for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  She has had “super, super, super fun with cast, Patty, and of course the St. Clairs!  Thanks to my family and friends for supporting me in the great adventure of FUN!”

 

Hannah Hagger (Bird Girl #3) has always had a passion for theater.  Last year marked her début in a musical production where she played the “Blanket” in Calvary’s You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  Other past Calvary shows include:  The Importance of Being Earnest (2003), The Elevator (2004), and Fools (2005).  “A big thanks to my mommy for encouraging my dramatic flair and to that Staytons (especially Amy) for inspiring my theatrical bent!”

 

Julianne Brown (Wickersham #1) has been involved in drama ever since she started at Calvary last year.  Seussical marks her début in musical theater and stage work.  Last year, she competed in MACS drama opposite Rachael Ozios in Eloise which one them first place for duet acting!  Julianne would like to dedicate the show to her mom.

 

Chevy Gilliam (Wickersham #2) is excited about his first drama experience.  He has been at Calvary for 3 years.  He is named after the car and his middle name is after a wrench.  Chevy would like to point out that Horton is not really fat, it’s all muscle!  “Thanks to my Aunts for their love and support!”

 

Jordan Steele (Wickersham #3) is on stage this year for the first time!  This has all been a new experience for him, but Jordan has proven to everyone that a guy who likes cars and sports CAN do theater!  We have all been thoroughly impressed with what he brings to the show!  Last year, Jordan ran the spotlight for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and now he is IN the spotlight!  GO JORDAN!!!  He is a senior this year.

 

Sean Little (Grinch) is a Junior at Calvary this year.  Seussical marks his début in any kind of play or musical.  He loves basketball and hanging out with friends.  “It has been fun during rehearsals to watch all of the outgoing and crazy sides of these people that I go to school with!”

 

Leah Ebbers (Who) is in her second year of shows for Calvary.  Last year she played “George” Woodstock in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  She has been at Calvary for 10 years and involved in many acting and singing competitions with middle school MACS.  Her life aspiration is to be a button maker in Borqulor.  “Thanks to my parents for supporting me.”

 

Carly Howell (Cindy Lou Who) is in the 6th Grade and just beginning in acting.  Seussical marks her début theater performance.  She has had a great time performing and rehearsing with the cast.  “I want to give all the glory to God!”

 

Chase Howell (Who/Max) also débuts on the stage for this performance of Seussical also making him the youngest student to perform in a Calvary production.  He has had great energy and excitement throughout rehearsals and brings his own personality into his character.  Chase would like to thank his parents for their support.

 

Rachel Ozios (Who) is in her 7th year at Calvary.   This is her first role in a Calvary show, but she has been involved in middle school MACS drama competition.  Last year, her award winning role as “Eloise” put her in first place for the duet acting category along with Julianne Brown.  Also last year, she starred as Galinda in Calvary’s Spring Concert, Imagination, which paid tribute to the new musical Wicked.  Her life aspiration is to be a lawyer in London.  “Thanks to my sister for putting up with me singing these songs over and over.  Thanks to my parents for their loving support!  And thanks to Mr. & Mrs. St. Clair for all the time they put into the play and cast!”

 

Shanice Taylor (Who) performed a duet acting piece with her sister last year for MACS which won 2nd place.  This year, she begins her stage career as a member of Whoville.  She has been at Calvary for 11 years.  When not acting, she enjoys making movies and writing books.  “I would like to thank my family and friends for their support!”

 

Becky VandenBerg (Who) would like to tell you about herself in her own words.  “Hi, let me tell you about myself.  At age five I won the gold medal for the high jump and silver for cycling.  I then progressed into my preteen years as the youngest Miss America at age 12 and the youngest FBI agent ever.  I now spend my days as a famous author, race car driver, and occasionally save the world from nuclear disasters and world hunger.  JUST KIDDING!  Oh well, when you’re living on the smallest planet in sky, you tend to exaggerate a little!”  Becky has attend Calvary for 8 years.

 

Stephen Field (Grandpa Who/Judge Yertle the Turtle) has been at Calvary for 11 years.  He has been involved in plenty of Fine Arts productions and MACS competitions where he won several awards for humorous interpretation.  Last year he played Pigpen in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  “I would like to thank my mom, Mrs. Farmer, Mrs. Jennings, and Mr. St. Clair for working with me.  I would also like to thank Ariel Taylor, Hannah Hagger, Pastor Timothy Durey, and Doug Sweat for their encouraging words to keep me going in pursuing my gift of acting.”

 

Ashley Joldersma (Ensemble/Dancer) is débuting her acting career this year, she is also involved in drama for MACS competition this year.  This is Ashley’s first year at Calvary.  “Thanks so much to Mom and Dad for their support and encouragement.  Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. St. Clair for your time and effort.  I love you cast!  You are designated to be my new special family!”

 

Rhea Kosten (Ensemble/Dancer) is excited to be a part of this year’s show.  Last year, Rhea played violin for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.  This year, she takes center stage as a dancer for Seussical.  This is Rhea’s first year as a full-time student at Calvary and she is a senior.  “I want to thank my parents for all the support they gave me through this production.  Thanks Mr. and Mrs. St. Clair for all the great memories!”

 

Lydia NyKamp (Ensemble/Dancer) has been dancing since she was five years old!  This is her first year at Calvary and she is thrilled to be able to be a part of Calvary’s musical this year.  “Thank you St. Clair’s for working with me and my dance schedule.  And thanks Mom and Dad for your support!’

 

Alissa Visscher (Ensemble/Dancer) is débuting her acting career this year in Calvary’s second musical.  She has been involved in some small acting roles during her 8 ½ year’s at Calvary.  She has really enjoyed learning to dance this year and wishes to keep on learning after the show is over.  “I want to thank my parents for their support and our Lord Jesus Christ for the talent He has given me.  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. St. Clair for the time and effort you have put into this production.”
