About Calvary Schools of Holland

These families recognize three dominant themes that characterize Calvary Schools of Holland:
- Biblically-Based, Academically Excellent Education

- Exemplary Christian Conduct
Biblically-Based, Academically Excellent Education
Calvary Schools is not just a private school with chapel and Bible added. The Bible is primary and Jesus Christ is at the center of our philosophy, purpose, and programs. Every subject is taught from a Biblical viewpoint to empower each student with God's knowledge from the Scriptures. Beginning in Kindergarten, children are introduced to the Christian character traits described in The Beatitudes, and special programs like PowerPlus encourage and recognize students who regularly display attitudes of love and concern for others, as well as provide unique opportunities for service and sacrifice.
The knowledge of God's Word gives students at Calvary the unique ability to understand and interpret the many questions and issues of life. This knowledge also leads to a desire to excel academically. Our students have consistently performed well on their Stanford Achievement Tests.

Dedicated and Well-Qualified Faculty and Staff
All full-time faculty teaching core curriculum subjects hold Bachelors degrees and average seven years of teaching experience; one quarter of our faculty and staff hold Masters degrees. They regularly pursue opportunities for continuing education.

Partners with the Family
Calvary believes parents are commissioned by God to "train up a child in the way he should go," and are assured that "when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). The role of the Christian school is to augment and continue the training begun in the home. Teachers and parents working together - to guide each child toward a personal commitment to Christ and to nurture and develop each child's academic potential to lead productive, Christ-honoring lives.
Our governing board is committed to this educational partnership with the family. Parents and local leaders of the Christian community who have a passion for education are members of our Board of Directors. Parent committees support our mission through prayer, fellowship, and fund-raisers.
Partners with the Church
Our current student body represents almost 40 churches in the Holland region. As part of our admission process we ask that at least one parent claim Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior. As a school community, we focus on the essentials of the Christian faith, seeking to include all families that desire to raise their children in the Lord.
PowerPlus, a program unique to Calvary, is an interactive service learning program specifically designed to train students in the skills of ministry. The families that choose Calvary desire to see their children become leaders in their various youth ministries, to be vocal about their faith and servant hearted in their local church.
